The diversity of the Leadership Experience is evident in the range of facilitators who have given their expertise and time to serve LE participants at the five-week intensive.
Esther has directed and taught in the Children and Family Ministry degree program at Lancaster Bible College | Capital Seminary and Graduate School since January 2016. Prior to that, she served for 12 years as International Children’s Ministry Director for a global mission organization while also supporting her husband in local church ministry. Her passion is multiplication of discipleship ministry to children in their families, churches and communities. She also continues to serve as an active member of the Global Children’s Forum, Lausanne Children at Risk Issue Group and 1/50 Initiative. Esther is currently working on research to complete a PhD in Leadership.
Dr Denise Muir Kjesbo
Denise serves as the Professor and Program Director of the Master of Arts in Children's and Family Ministry at Bethel Seminary (St. Paul, MN, USA). The MACFM is a fully accredited, online with an intensive two year degree that equips those serving in children's ministry at the next level of leadership. She also serves as the Director of The Cory Center for Children's Ministry, an externally focused endowment which seeks to provide leadership development for Children's and Family Ministry leaders who have not yet or never will attend Bethel Seminary.
Denise is on staff of The Point is to Serve with her husband, Allen, who is the Lead Pastor. Her portfolio includes Children's and Family Ministry, Adult Small Groups and Prayer Ministry. Allen and Denise delight in their two adult children, Jordan and Emily and their spouses, Faith and Ryan and love every minute of time they get to spend with their four grandchildren, Keke, Keivon, Hazel, and Henry.
Pearl is a filmmaker, humanitarian worker, global trainer and international speaker. She is the co-founder and creative director of Ur Vision Communications, a media production company and Forerunner Global Outreach, a humanitarian organisation.
Pearl holds a Masters in Religion and Philosophy and MBA in advertising. She also has a diploma in Christian ministry. Pearl has travelled to over 40 countries empowering teens, families and leaders in media and missions. She is passionate about continuing this journey and this call in every country of the world. Pearl serves as the Lausanne catalyst for children and evangelism and as a key facilitator for KidsHubs.
Roy is married to Wendy, with four married children and four grandchildren. Throughout his 32-year career, he has been a teacher, middle school principal, writer, facilitator, and mentor. He is currently training as a life coach.
Over the past 10 years, he has worked with hundreds of people from more than 120 nationalities to create ministry resources collaboratively. He is passionate about helping people wrestle with complex and paradigm-shifting ideas to bring transformation to families and leaders. He loves exploring the creative process, active learning, painting and music production.
Derrick has a passion for networking Children Ministry Leaders and agencies in his nation of Zambia and beyond. He also loves working at identifying, training and equipping young people to excel in their leadership potential and roles. Derrick was one of the first intake of the Leadership Experience in 2016, and returned as a facilitator for LE 2018.
Jacques van Bommel
Jacques is the founding CEO of Reaching a Generation, an organization that creates strategy and resources to mobilize churches to conduct city-wide outreaches, with follow-up discipleship to children and youth. Jacques specializes in leadership development. He is a family man, professional hunter, private pilot and a businessman, using business as an avenue to support mission.
Terry serves as a Family & Children’s Ministry Specialist with Scripture Union and shares his time between working with the Queensland staff and as a member of the SU International Ministry Team. He serves a number of partnering initiatives with global networks. Terry’s passion is to help children to find and live out a lifelong faith in Jesus and to find the ‘life to the full’ that He provides as well as supporting families in their primary role in faith formation. Terry is married to Margaret and they have three adult children and five grandchildren.
Carmen (Menchit) Wong
Menchit serves in key leadership roles in global mission movements and networks. During her 30-year tour of duty with Compassion International, she served as Country Director for the Philippines, and Child Advocacy Director.
Menchit is committed to facilitating global partnerships, and mentoring younger leaders and child advocates for mission to, for and with children-at-risk. Menchit is also a professionally trained coach and management consultant.
Dr Glenn Miles
Glenn has spent most of his career in Cambodia focused on the rights of children and vulnerable adults in S E Asia. Glenn possesses a Ph.D. from the University of Swansea in childhood studies focusing on Cambodian children’s experiences and understandings of violence, including sexual abuse and trafficking. He has developed a range of training tools on child development and protection.
Glenn is currently researching understanding the opinions of under-represented and sexually exploited communities including boys, men, and transgender people in Cambodia, India, the Philippines, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. He continues to be an advisor for NGOs in Cambodia, Thailand, and the UK.
Sheryl serves with ACTION International as their Global Children's Ministry Training Director. She has worked in 26 countries as an advocate for children's ministry and a trainer for children's ministry leaders. She also is part of the Global Leadership Team of the 1for50 movement, whose dream is to reach, disciple and empower the next generation. Currently she's working on her PhD in Holistic Child Development through the Asia Graduate School of Theology in the Philippines. She's passionate about equipping people to serve children.
Simon serves with the Logosdor team in Australia. He is passionate about children, families, the creativity of the Bible, fresh vision, trying new things and taking risks for the Kingdom. He has enjoyed seeing and encouraging the creativity of leaders in many parts of the world and the power of partnering, especially when people set aside their own agenda to serve the Lord together. He's most proud of being an adoptive dad with a beautiful wife and two energetic sons.
Wendy has worked with Scripture Union Australia, SU Kenya, SU Africa and SU International. At the end of 2018, she retired from her role as Children’s Ministries Coordinator for SU International where she was responsible for planning for the equipping of SU staff and volunteers across the globe, as well as the development of global partnerships and initiatives.
Wendy believes that God speaks to children in all contexts through his Word and that God invites children to play a significant role in the kingdom of God.
Jacky is a life skills trainer and coach. She is passionate about helping individuals to flourish; With an early interest in teaching and a deeply felt connection to continuous personal growth, she is engaged in developing self-empowerment programs and resources and training on the same. She serves as a children ministry leader in the Anglican Church in Kenya, Nairobi Diocese and a lead trainer with Bible Centered Ministries (BCM) International.
Dr Seblewongel A. Denneque
Seble is a member of the teaching faculty at the Evangelical Theological College (ETC), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where she also leads the Masters in Holistic Child Development Department. As an individual consultant, Seble is licensed for Motivational Core coaching and she leads Personal and Organizational Development Programs.
